I've got you babe (Ouvir)
À primeira vista parece fácil ficar amiga do ex-namorado.
Corrijo-me.
E não me venhas cá pedir
desculpas.
To be friends with our ex-boyfriend seems to be easy. If we
thought, at a given point, that this person was good to be our partner, maybe
even for the rest of our life, so why not become friends after breaking up?
For a myriad of traits, this person seemed to be good enough
for us. He seemed to be, but at the end of the day he wasn’t. Actually, we only
get to know people as time goes by, and what seemed to be right at a given
point is not right after some time.
The break up may come from any one of them, and for
several reasons, but for most relationships I know about, it was not by mutual
agreement. Let me correct myself, it may even be by mutual consent, but just
because one of them was not “so into” the other one, or because someone else
just showed up, or there's just no explanation for the matter.
I guess that today people just don’t care. People are not willing
to “waste” their time to get to know the other one better. They’re just not
tolerant anymore. They’re egoistic. And they play. They play with the heart.
They play with the body. And they keep playing because there’s no harm in
hurting other people in exchange for their own enjoyment. There’s not a problem in raising
expectations. There’s no problem in making believe it’s something that it’s
not.
And that is why No, we cannot be friends. And please,
do not come to me to say you’re sorry.
